Privacy

Last updated 1 August 2026.

Varu's Glitter Gallery is a small jewellery shop. This page describes exactly what the website collects, why, and how to have it removed. We have deliberately kept it short, because there is not much to describe: there are no customer accounts, no advertising trackers, and no cookies.

When you place an order

Checkout asks for your name and phone number, and records them together with the items you chose, their prices at that moment, and an order reference. That is the shop's record of the order and is how we know who to send the jewellery to.

Placing an order then opens WhatsAppwith a pre-filled message so you can confirm. That conversation happens on WhatsApp, not on this website, and is covered by WhatsApp's own privacy policy. As with any WhatsApp chat, we can see the phone number and profile you message us from.

Order records are kept as the shop's business record. You can ask us to delete yours — see Your choices below.

What stays on your device

Your bag and your wishlist are stored only in your own browser. They are never sent to us, and we cannot see them. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Visit statistics

We count visits so we know which pieces people look at. This uses no cookies. Your browser stores two random ids so repeat visits within a session can be told apart; they are not linked to your name, your order, or anything else about you.

For each page view we record the page address, how long the page was actually on screen, whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer, and a broad category for how you arrived (for example “Instagram” or “direct”). The full referring address is used to work out that category and is then discarded.

These are stored as running totals per day and per month— there is no record of individual visits. A short-lived entry keyed by the random session id powers the “here now” counter and deletes itself automatically.

Clearing your browser data resets the random ids. We do not currently offer a visitor-facing opt-out switch, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.

The AI stylist

If you use the AI stylist, the photo you upload is sent to Anthropic, who run the model that suggests jewellery, and is used only to answer that one request. We never store your photo — it is not saved to our database or our file storage at any point, and it is gone once the suggestion comes back.

Bot protection

Pages that use our AI features are protected by Google reCAPTCHA and Firebase App Check, which check that requests come from a real browser rather than a script. Google collects hardware and software information for this purpose and analyses it; this is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Who else handles this data

The website runs on Google Firebase, which hosts the site and stores the order records and photographs. Like any web host, its servers keep standard request logs, which include IP addresses. We use your IP address only in the moment, to limit how often the same visitor can call our AI features; we do not store it ourselves.

Beyond Google, the only others involved are Anthropic (the AI stylist, above) and WhatsApp (order conversations). We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. The quickest way is to message us on WhatsApp with your order reference. If you would like to raise a concern about how your information has been handled, use the same number and we will respond.

This site is meant for customers shopping for jewellery and is not directed at children.

If anything here is unclear, ask us on WhatsApp — we would rather explain it than have you guess.
